Northwest Missouri State got off to a slow start in the opening quarter against Pittsburg State and couldn't recover in a 79-50 loss.

The Bearcats (6-10) trailed 17-6 at the end of the first after hitting just two of 13 shots.

The Gorillas pushed the lead to 15 points at halftime.

Molly Hartnett put up 17 points and five rebounds to lead Northwest.

Mallory McConkey and Jillian Fleming added six points apiece.

The Bearcats are home again Saturday with a chance to sweep Missouri Southern. Pregame begins at 1pm on KXCV 90.5 and KRNW 88.9, with the opening tip scheduled for 1:30pm.
